Only apply for positions that is suited to you, ensure that you fit the following important aspects before applying for any position:
- Do you have the right qualification(s), skills and experience?
- Analyze your motivation and attitude for wanting to apply for the position. Is it in line with your career goals?
- Will you fit into the organisation? Do you know what the culture is like? You need to establish this from the recruitment company.
- If you do not meet the requirements of the position, register with us. In this way you ensure that your information is on our database for future positions.

- If your interview is with a recruitment company, gather as much information about the company as possible. For example, their area of focussed expertise and service(s) that they offer.
- If your interview is directly with the Company, gather as much information about the company as possible.
- Ensure that you know the positions of the interviewing panel and who they are. Confusion does not make a good first impression.
- Dress professionally and be groomed, this will give you added confidence and make a good first impression.
- Motivate yourself. Be confident about who you are and your expectations. Think only positive thoughts.
- Be on Time and if you present any documents, do so in a professional manner. If possible, have a set of professional copies for the recruiter.
- Ensure that you are prepared, familiarise yourself with your dates on your resume, sell yourself, your strengths and weaknesses.
- Do not make derogatory remarks about previous or current employers, be diplomatic.

- Ensure to be professional and honest at all times
- If you are contacting the advertiser by phone, prepare your questions in advance to ensure that you only ask relevant questions. Do not ask : “tell me more about the position”. Address specific issues that are not clear in the advertisement. E-mail is also a very effective way of communication.
- When you apply for a position, either by e-mail or fax, ensure that you stipulate clearly for which position you apply. Most companies are dealing with loads of positions and your resume can easily get lost and you can be overlooked for the perfect position.

- Ensure that your resume is professional and structured in an easy-to-read manner – do not include fancy décor, it only takes up space. The electronic format should be easy to download and open.
- Structure your CV according to the minimum requirements of the advertised position. In other words, it should be easy to evaluate that you meet the minimum requirements.

- Personal and contact details – ensure that it is clearly visible. Always include your e-mail address.
- Previous and current employment (company name), reporting structure and reason for leaving
- All your responsibilities/key performance areas in your current and previous positions
